The arrest and related news

So most of you know that Tarkan was arrested last week. I collected some info on it for those of you that are not on facebook.

I am not sure yet whether he was cleared of the charges or just released for the moment. I am still translating some of the Turkish news reports.

Here is the official press release from Tarkans attorney: I get that it says that the media is making all sorts of speculations. Tarkan is innocent and the truth will come out at trial. I am working on a full reading of it. Anyone who is quicker than me, please post an actual translation.

Tarkan hakkındaki spekülatif haberleri önlemek, yürümekte olan bir yargılamanın yanlış yönlendirilmesini engellemek ve sevenleri için kamuoyunu belirli konularda bilgilendirmek istediklerini belirten Avukat Yunus Egemenoğlu tarafından yayınlanan basın bildirimi;

"Müvekkilimiz Tarkan Tevetoğlu, İstanbul Narkotik Şube Mücadele Şube Müdürlüğü tarafından yürütülen narkotik soruşturma kapsamında Emniyet Müdürlüğü’ne alınmış, soruşturma konusunda gözaltına alınan kişilerin çok sayıda olması ve ifadelerin alınmasının uzun sürmesi nedeniyle şu ana kadar gözaltında tutulmuş, ifadeler tamamlanır tamamlanmaz da salıverilmiştir. Müvekkilimiz, ilgili makamlarca talep edilen konularda ifadesini vermiş, gerekli açıklamaları yapmıştır.

Tarkan Tevetoğlu’nun soruşturması devam eden suç örgütü ile ilgisi bulunmamaktadır. Evinde ve üzerinde kokain bulunmamıştır. Uyuşturucu bağımlısı olduğu doğru değildir. Arkadaşlarına uyuşturucu ortamı sağlamamıştır, uyuşturucu ticaretinin içinde değildir ve olmamıştır. Torbacılar diye tabir edilen insanlarla hiçbir bağlantısı yoktur olmamıştır. Torbacıların defterlerinde adı geçmemiştir. Varlığı iddia edilen herhangi bir örgütle doğrudan veya dolaylı bir bağı olmamıştır. Polise direndiği haberi doğru değildir, ilgili makamlara yardımcı olmuş ve evin aranmasında kolaylık sağlamıştır. Basında yer aldığı şekliyle şoförüne herhangi bir suç attığı doğru değildir. Diğer kişilerin ifadesinin tamamlanabilmesi için Emniyet Müdürlüğü’nde bulunduğu sürece gerek Emniyet Müdürlüğü gerek Cumhuriyet Savcılığı’nca Ceza Muhakemesi Kanunu kapsamında ve olması gerektiği gibi son derece hukuka uygun ve insani muamele görmüştür.

Soruşturmanın gizliliği prensibi gereği yargıya taşınmış bir konuda adli yargılamayı etkilememek adına, şimdilik başkaca bir yorum ve açıklama yapamamaktayız. Yargılama sonunda gerçekler ortaya çıkacaktır. Kamuoyunun ve değerli basın mensuplarının spekülatif açıklamalara itibar etmemesini rica eder, gerektiğinde yasal kurallara uygun olarak yeniden açıklama yapacağımızı bildiririz."

Press Release from Tarkan’s attorney, Yunus Egemenoglu:

"Our client, Tarkan, was detained during an investigation performed by the Istanbul Narcotics Department. He was taken into custody and gave testimony in reference to the matter. My client was released after giving his testimony and explanations relating to the matter.

Due to all the speculation happening in the press, we wish to correct errors made and acquaint the public with the specifics of the case.

Tarkan Tevetoglu is not part of the continuing investigation in relation to this matter.
Cocaine was not found at his home.
It is not true that he is a drug addict.
His friends did not provide drugs and no drug trades happened.
He does not have connections with the people in the book (acquired by police).
His name was not revealed in the book (acquired by the police).
There is not allegation or evidence of a link with any organization (that sells drugs?).
It is not true that he resisted arrest and he has been helping the police with this matter.
The idea that his driver had drugs is not true.
The police department and the judiciary will handle this as is legally suitable and appropriate.

As the matter is heading to the courts, we cannot make any further comments, but we are sure the truth will be revealed by courts. The speculations made in the public do not relate to the real facts of the case, as will be determined by the courts.

There's a good article on Tarkandeluxe where they're quoting Tarkan's lawer;he says that Tarkan has never said he used drugs and didn't make appologize to the fans.....
We don't know if he will be part of the process....
